Module 1: Stepping Up and Out

Becoming master of time and space

A great first line manager takes control and drives their team forwards. We will look at what their role really is as well as clearly defining the level they should be working at. We will also focus on planning, prioritising, achieving more and gaining greater control over the working day. Successful planning starts by developing good time practices that are practical and realistic in hitting deadlines. This module is more about modifying behaviour and changing habits than just learning a series of techniques.

Module 2: The Power of Words

The confident and consummate communicator

Great communication is vital. Being efficient and working effectively requires First Line Managers to communicate assertively and honestly with their teams. They need to say no, to gain agreement and buy in to new initiatives, to raise performance and acknowledge good performance. The words and actions of a front-line manager have a direct impact on the performance and motivation of their team. This module focuses on achieving higher performance from their team. We will also look at delegation and at creating positive performance improvement plans.

Module 4: Developing Performance

It is essential for all managers to have the skills of developing excellence in their people. More than being just a manager, an effective leader needs to be a coach and mentor. The secret to boosting the skills, knowledges and attitudes of a team is to lead through questions rather than statements and getting other people to think more for themselves.
